Human Services Report Released

We have obtained copies of the Human Services report on the ABC International Montessori School. The report has determined that a staff person was found guilty of maltreatment of children. This means that the staff person was verbally abusive toward the children and handled the children in a rough manner which included grabbing the children by the arms.

The second allegation was not determined. This included inappropriately touching a child on the upper thigh and having an inappropriate relationship with them.

Bloomington Police – Reports of inappropriate behavior on file

We have received copies of several police reports that have been filed against the ABC International Montessori Academy in Bloomington Minnesota. The police reports are available to the public. The city of Bloomington has removed the names of the alleged victims and the school employees involved in the past investigations.

While no one has been charged and the cases are not currently open or under investigation, the number of reports and incidents that site “inappropriate behavior” is cause for concern. Contact the Bloomington Police Department to obtain a copy for yourself.

ABC International Montessori – Human Services Investigation

As parents of a former student of the ABC International Montessori Academy in Bloomington Minnesota, we felt it necessary to inform other parents about what we have learned recently about the school. Hennepin County Human Services has been conducting an investigation of the school since November 2007. The report will be released to the public in the next 6-8 weeks. If you would like to receive a copy of the report, contact Melanie Daniel at Hennepin County Human Services (651-284-0268).

The county will not release any information about the investigation until the report is completed and made public. I also spoke to a detective with the Bloomington Police department who has been called to the school as well. Currently there are no open cases and charges have not been filed against the school or administration.

I would encourage any parents who are thinking about sending their child to the ABC International Montessori School in Bloomington Minnesota to contact the school directly with questions about the investigation.
